Sweater Weather Tag

Welcome to not only a new week but also a new season, yes Teamales it is officially autumn and I blady hate it.

I’m pretty sure eighteen white girls just dropped their pumpkin spice lattes in utter shock so please let me explain. It’s not that I don’t like autumn (seriously A don’t take it personally) I just hate how it’s becoming yet another consumer holiday, Starbucks were probably the first to ruin it with THAT perfume tasting drink, then Instagram took their piece of the pie with all these fall fashion hashtags including layering which we’ve already discussed is highly impractical and now suddenly everyone is obsessed with Halloween? I just don’t get it. I don’t want to demote mustard and brown coloured clothes to a three month period. And- let’s be realistic here- what even is a pumpkin spice?

With all this in mind, when I was nominated to do the Sweater Weather Tag by the sugarplums at http://theclosetplebeians.com/ I was super excited. For anyone that hasn’t come across tags before the idea of them is to thank the person that nominated you, answer the questions provided and then nominate other bloggers to answer them too.

Favourite candle scent? I’m a sucker for a Yankee Candle, especially the made up scents like ‘A Birthday Wish’ or ‘Sunlight in the Apocalypse’ realistically I’m just that annoying friend that tags along to your shopping trip so she can stand in the Yankee Candle shop smelling every jar she can in her allocated 4 and a half minute browsing time. I must hold some kind of record by now. My absolute favourite though is Mandarin Cranberry.

Coffee, tea or hot chocolate? My logo is tea, my blog name is tea, my readers are tea but, confession time, I prefer hot chocolate. Please forgive me for I have sinned.

What’s the best fall memory you have? Firstly, what is FALL. There is a union jack decorated across my page for a reason, such unofficial language offends me. As for my best autumn memory I would have to say…I don’t really think a lot happens in autumn to be honest. It’s my 10 year anniversary of living in Brighton next month so that was a pretty memorable time. Or maybe last year when I baked cupcakes for the trick or treaters (see I’m not a complete Scrooge) but people knocked on the door so often that I was scared to go for a wee and miss a child out. I carved a snowflake in my pumpkin and everything.

Which make-up trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner? I don’t really do either. One would make me look like a prostitute clown and the other a panda with windscreen wipers. I’d rather spent the extra half an hour in bed than trying out some new ‘fall face’ before my hour long commute to school (at which point you’ve already rubbed your eyes so many times it’s not hard to believe the makeup Gods aren’t ruling in your favour).

Best fragrance for fall? Ohemgee I just realised I haven’t done my cba for perfume post yet. Lookout for that one in the future #TeamDeodrantAndGo

Favourite Thanksgiving food (or fall food if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving)? I currently don’t have a kitchen so the past few weeks have been couscous, cold chicken salad with couscous, grilled pork with couscous and takeaway curry which is how it’s likely to stay for the immediate future. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK (yet- it’s only a matter of time until Starbucks creates some Mincemeat Macchiato ft. giblet gravy) so we’ll probably sit around eating custard creams, discussing the Queen instead.

What is autumn weather like where you live? Windy and rainy. Now seriously UK we can’t keep romanticising that, despite the fact we probably named it, this is not New England. For us autumn is code for flooding, hailstorms and blustery days that my fringe and skirt collection have agreed they’d rather not have to deal with.

Most worn sweater? Coincidentally, that would be the same one I’m wearing while I write this: a Cath Kidston V-neck with a fluffy dog in the middle from Tunbridge Wells. The jumper that is, not the dog.

Football games or jumping in leaf piles? Football? Darling it’s alllllll about the Rugby World Cup right now- especially as Brighton is hosting some of the games. Patriotic bit over now let’s jump in some piles of leaves.

Favourite type of pie? Can I say a pork pie, even though it’s not really autumnal in the slightest? I love Melton Mowbray pork pies, they look like tiny sand castles and remind me of the good old car picnics that every British family has had (organised-fun-gone-wrong). That is until you buy a selection pack and have to play a kind of pork pie roulette in order to not get a porn and pickle one.

What song really gets you into the fall spirit? I immediately thought of Bad Day by Daniel Powter (who else thinks of that fan made club penguin video everytime they hear that song? I legit think it might just be me this time but I’ll try and find a link so you can try and get on my level slash think I’m less weird) but the real Queen here is going to be Lana’s new album. My copy’s arriving tomorrow and can already tell I won’t be playing anything else for the next three months- when the Christmas CDs come out again.

Note: only now do I realise that I was supposed to answer that question with Sweater Weather by the Neighbourhood.

Is pumpkin spice worth the hype? I think now is a good time to cut to my nominees, don’t you?

(P.S. here are all the questions I ran out of time to answer: Favourite fall TV show? Skinny jeans or leggings? Combat boots or Uggs? Halloween- Yay or Nay? Fall mornings or evenings? What do you think about Black Friday? One Fall 2015 trend you love?)

And finally before you think I’ve forgotten, HERE is that club penguin gem, warning: after watching it Daniel Powter will never be the same again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZWI1qXz8wQ

Yes! #TeamDeodorantandGo needs to be a thing. Also, 100% yes for Lana’s new album being the most exciting thing this autumn. That and the first Super Thursday in publishing leading up to Christmas, so a lot of the big new book releases drop today. Happy, happy Grace. Though I am partial to a pumpkin spice latte…
